MSR Celebrates Another Successful Commissioning of Membrane Bioreactor Plant

MSR Solutions is proud to announce the successful commissioning of their latest Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) plant on the Vancouver Island. This achievement marks another significant milestone for MSR as they continue to revolutionize the field of small- to medium-sized wastewater treatment applications.

The newly commissioned MBR plant comprises two state-of-the-art MBR treatment trains, which have been meticulously designed to meet the specific needs of the site. This innovative system will serve approximately 60 mobile home and RV units, ensuring efficient and effective wastewater treatment for the premises.

MBR technology is a cutting-edge approach that combines biological treatment processes with advanced membrane filtration. It offers superior performance compared to conventional wastewater treatment methods by producing higher-quality effluent and achieving a smaller environmental footprint. MSR has been at the forefront of developing and implementing MBR solutions for small- to medium-sized wastewater treatment applications.

MSR’s dedication to innovation and their ability to deliver customized solutions have established them as a trusted leader in the wastewater treatment industry on Vancouver Island. The company’s MBR plants are reliable, efficienct, and robust, making them a preferred choice for numerous clients.

BCWWA 2023 Annual Conference and Trade Show

BCWWA 2023 Annual Conference and Trade Show

MSR recently attended the 2023 BCWWA Annual Conference and Trade Show.

This year, MSR had the opportunity to present on two topics:

1) Challenges and lessons learned with installing greywater recycling systems
(presented by Saman Khoddam, M.Sc., P.Eng., and Taryn Fournie, Ph.D., E.I.T.)

2) Wastewater treatment and disposal at challenging sites
(presented by Karl Williaume, P.Eng., and Cole Seymour ASTTBC)

MSR assisted with the Silent Auction held by the Water for People-Canada, BC Committee to raise funds for the Water for People mission to create a world where everyone has access to reliable and safe drinking water.

Additionally, MSR got to meet and interact with numerous other professionals in the water and wastewater fields and learn about the latest innovations at the Trade Show.

MSR is looking forward to 2024!

MSR’s Successful Commission of an MBBR System

MSR’s Successful Commission of an MBBR System

MSR recently successfully commissioned a moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) system for a recycling facility on Vancouver Island!

Due to high variability in the types and quantities of materials received by recycling facilities, the leachate from these sites can be challenging to treat. For example, the leachate on this site regularly contained high quantities of metals and organics, and other contaminants which varied between sampling events.

The ultimate MBBR system will treat leachate from the site to a quality where it can be discharged into the local Municipal wastewater system for further treatment.

The MBBR media was visible through the side of the fiberglass reactor. The movement of the media is mesmerizing, and we’ve called it ‘Dance of the Media’.

BCWWA’S 50th Annual Conference & Trade Show 2022

OUR Team will be presenting at the BCWWA this year!

The annual conference for the BC Water and Waste Association (BCWWA) will be occurring in Victoria at the Conference Centre on May 15-17, 2022.  MSR is proud of the efforts of Karl Willaume and Kostas Velegrinos, in having their papers accepted for presentation on rainwater collection and usage; and septic system ground discharge assessments.  They will be supported by junior staff to have an opportunity to participate in the presentations.  Way to go team!

Anmore Village Wastewater Treatment Registration and Upgrades

Anmore Village Wastewater Treatment Registration and Upgrades

Anmore Countryside Village is located in the Lower Mainland, between the Indian Arm of the Burrard Inlet and the City of Coquitlam with the civic address of 3295 Sunnyside Road, Anmore, BC V3H 4Z4.

Within the past few years, MSR Solutions Inc. (MSRS) provided upgrade recommendations pertinent to Anmore Countryside Village wastewater and disposal systems. The recommendations were included: installation of equalization storage, UV disinfection units (for SPT2), and disposal field improvements. MSRS also assisted in the construction supervision and required inspections during the upgrade projects.

Further to the previous projects, MSRS has been retained by Countryside Village to register the existing wastewater and disposal systems with the BC Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy (ENV) under the Municipal Wastewater Regulation (MWR).

Anmore Countryside Village consists of 92 lots with different type of dwellings. The available information in the BC Assessment portal (https://www.bcassessment.ca/) was used to identify the type and number of dwellings. In some cases, due to the absence of information in the portal, other resources such as available drawings and aerial photos were used to identify the type of dwellings.

The exiting wastewater treatment system at Anmore Countryside Village comprise two separate treatment and one disposal units SPT1 and SPT2. SPT1 and SPT2 were “Registered” and “Filed” with the BC Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy (ENV) and Fraser Health Authority (FHA), respectively.
