Recent Weekly Win

Every Thursday afternoon, MSR has a weekly win/team-building meeting to wrap up the week.

This week, each team was given a set of Minecraft Lego to build without the instructions.

Both teams finished with only a little help by receiving the instructions for the last 5 minutes. Great teamwork, concentration, problem solving & structural engineering skills were utilized.

Recent Weekly Win

Every Thursday afternoon, MSR has a weekly win/team-building meeting to wrap up the week.

This week, 4 teams were each given 3 feet of string, 3 feet of masking tape, 20 raw spaghetti sticks & 1 marshmallow. The goal was to build the tallest free-standing structure with the marshmallow on top, in 20 minutes. The marshmallow could not be eaten or reduced in size in any way. All the other components were not mandatory to use completely.

The results

Taryn & Samuel won for tallest structure. Nazila & Anastasiia won 2nd place for stability and also for finishing under time. Jeff & TJ should have quit while they were ahead, building by far the tallest tower, though it was lacking in structural integrity.

This week’s weekly win wrapped up another great team effort using co-operation, innovation & creativity.

MSR Team Building Event in Celebration of Mike’s 60th Birthday

MSR Team Building Event in Celebration of Mike’s 60th Birthday

Happy Birthday, Mike!

Our team at MSR had a lovely time celebrating Mike’s 60th Birthday with a fun-filled company team-building event. Needless to say, we were honoured that Mike chose to spend his birthday having fun and playing games with us all.

A special thanks to Iron & Wood Golf Simulators for hosting the party and providing virtual games. The team spent three hours socializing over some friendly competition with great food and drinks provided by 1550 Pub Catering.

The whole team agrees: Zombie Dodgeball took the highest rank as the sweatiest game – those suckers are hard to kill. Luckily, our hard work defeating Zombies was highly rewarded by the delicious cake provided by Cakes Etc. Turtle Cheesecake! Cheezy and adorable!

Special shoutout to Heather, who won the ‘Guess the Number of Jellybeans” (2,760) for a $50 gift certificate from Iron & Wood. Congratulations! – The jellybean jar was part of Mike’s gift from the staff. He’s been asking for these for over a year.

After a day full of fun and games we came together to wind down with an evening socializing at Browns Socialhouse. A lovely time altogether!

Build a Bike – Team Building

Build a Bike – Team Building

There’s nothing like a team building exercise to unite people. Unless of course that team building exercise also results in a donation that makes many people happy.

MSR Solutions recently completed their Teamwork and Creative Thinking Sessions with Sara Wegwitz from Tailor Making Health. They also had expert bike mechanic support from Simon at Cycles West to ensure a successful result. At the end of the day the team had built two awesome bikes that were donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Victoria through Beth Diprose.

“We had a blast and spread a little grease around the office,” said CEO, Mike Seymour. “We made sure to do test drives to ensure the bikes were rideable. Simon from Cycles West made sure they were safe before they were donated.

Two lucky children from the Brentwood, BC area will receive the bikes.

“A big thank you to the team at MSR, who made this so much fun,” said Seymour. “And of course to Simon for his guidance and oversight, to Beth for finding a wonderful home for the bikes, and to Sara, perhaps the most awesome performance and mental fitness coach around.”

Exercises like these are what make the team at MSR Solutions great.
