Port Browning Marina Resort

Port Browning Marina Resort

The Port Browning Marina Resort is located on North Pender Island in British Columbia. It includes a restaurant, marina, and campground. The water source for the facility is a small, upland pond about 1 km uphill. The water in the pond contains moderate levels of iron, manganese and tannins. All of these present an aesthetic challenge.

MSR Solutions used a series of media filters, tannin filtration and greensand. Treatment consisted of a series of media filters, oxidation of the metals with permanganate, ultraviolet disinfection, and chlorination. We achieved high water clarity prior to disinfection using UV light.

The water treatment process at Port Browning Marina Resort operates  day and night to supply an appropriately sized reservoir. This reservoir is maintained at a minimal chlorine residual. This ensures clear, clean water throughout the resort.

MSR Solutions facilitated system upgrades, and continues to work with the resort to provide ongoing operational support.

Cottages on Osoyoos Lake, Oliver, BC

Cottages on Osoyoos Lake, Oliver, BC

Cottages on Osoyoos Lake is a 300-home residential development on Osoyoos Lake.

We were retained to design a water treatment plant and wastewater treatment plant co-housed in a single treatment building and obtained approval from Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC). Wastewater works include screening, equalization, chemical nutrient removal and flat plate membranes from WesTech Engineering. Discharge is to rapid infiltration basins and subsurface drip irrigation. We provided construction oversight and commissioning support.

We continue to provide ongoing operation support.

See our Wastewater Treatment Services page for more information on what MSR Solutions can do for you.

Port Renfrew CRD – Water System Upgrades

Port Renfrew CRD – Water System Upgrades

An ongoing project to upgrade the capacity of the water system in Port Renfrew, BC to allow for continued growth within the community.

The first phase of the Port Renfrew project involved upgrading the well pump, booster pumps and the associated piping and controls in order to increase the water supply available to the town. The second phase will involve upgrades to the town’s storage capacity by adding a second reservoir, providing increased water supply for fire protection and emergency storage.

Elkington Forest

Elkington Forest

Elkington Forest is a development located near Shawnigan Lake on Vancouver Island.

It is a phased development with the ultimate plan for 97 homes and 15 businesses to be constructed within a managed forest property. MSR Solutions provided design and construction inspection services for the first phase of the development. This included the access road to the development and servicing of the first 18 lots as per Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure standards.

In commissioning phase for the water and wastewater treatment plants.

Prince Rupert Airport

Prince Rupert Airport

Prince Rupert Airport

This project provided a rainwater harvesting system to meet the potable water needs of the Prince Rupert Airport.

The airport had identified the need to improve upon its current water supply from a lake intake, but alternative water sources were limited due to the airport being located on a small island. MSR Solutions conducted a source analysis and determined the optimal solution for that particular site is rainwater harvesting, with retention of the existing lake source as an emergency backup.

MSR Solutions designed the system for storage, treatment and conveyance of the rainwater as well as an improved treatment process for the lake water source, and obtained a permit through the health authority. Construction of the system is now complete. It is currently in the commissioning stage.

A unique aspect of this project is the use of rainwater harvesting within a larger commercial context, in contrast to typical rainwater systems which service single households.
